I've almost finished building the TOUGHEST RD1 CR-V bashplate - BASH-PLATE FOR LIFTED RD1 (Part 3/4)
PART 4 COMING SOON (June 2024)
Please show support at:
ko-fi.com/isakjetbean
Incredibly close to the finish line. This week I took the frame rails I'd started making, finished them up, boxed the two sides together and cut my angled pieces for a nice, sharp approach angle.
From there, I "strapped" my frame joints with some 3mm plate, massaged into my corners with a hammer.
Then, I added another piece of 5mm flat bar to even out the bottom.
Next week, I'll start by welding it to the tow hook, adding 1 more 5mm crossbeam, and then remove it ready to start cutting the plate up.
With the plate all cut, I'll gusset any necessary brackets/joins and it'll be ready for welding then paint!
I'll have the frame finished Monday, which means the rest of the week will be free to finish up the plate!
Excited as hell! Check back next Sunday to see the final results of my bashplate!

Hola my dudes. Week 2 and I'm kinda late.. It's Monday here but it's still Sunday in USA so screw it, it still counts. This week I got the base of my frame mounted and realised I need to cut a section out and box it. If you like what I do and would like to show support: ko-fi.com/isakjetbean

If you like what I do and would like to show support: ko-fi.com/isakjetbean Thanks for tuning in. This thing is gonna be BEEFY. 5mm steel bash plate covering the transfer, sump and even rad support. Gonna have some nice angles in it. In addition to that, a 30x30mm box tube frame with 2.6mm thick steel to mount to, essentially it's own subframe of sorts but lower than the subframe, protecting my...

If you like what I do and would like to show support: ko-fi.com/isakjetbean This was a really fun camping trip, I know it doesn't have the CR-V for my Honda subscribers, but it's very much worth the watch in my opinion. This episode is all about dealing with my handbrake. I got sick of my handbrake not working, so I decided to revert to the tried and tested method of mounting the bleeder upside-down so the handbrake bracket attached to the caliper still fits. Because I cut the bracket off the old brakes, I had to buy new calipers. Thankfully, my handbrake works now.... right? Yeah, we'll see 🙄

You can swap a honda element diff into these?? Are they better and what year would work?

    • @isakjetbean
      @isakjetbean Місяць тому

All years. And 2nd gen / 3rd gen crv diffs work too. 3rd Gen have an internal mechanism to engage the dual pump to 30% leading to faster engagement and less wear. They're better. Dual pump diffs have clutches that force together when a fluid thickens, which happens when it's spun. The higher your rpm, the thicker the fluid. That pushes clutches together and engages awd. The Element have more clutch material and wider ports for the fluid to flow when it gets thicker so faster.

And could not get the strut fork to mount up! Removed the fork off the strut, put the bolt through placed at the angle and gave it a kick!! Bam 💥 that mother is in!!! • @isakjetbean

Does alright, I never really load it up very heavy. Gotta hit any decent long hill at like 20-25km/h min, usually favouring around 30-35km/h. With a regear up to around 5.8 I think I'll get down to 24km/h with close to max tq (3600rpm) on stock engine. So idling pretty cruisy at that point. As for weight, gear is never heavier than 3 passengers so it's kind of negligible. Haven't re-geared anything.......yet

Its called the CR-V. Costly Recreactional Vehical. Do what you want with it, and have fun, just remember its limitations are like any other J e e p. Push it too hard and its going to cost you. Upgrade it too much and that will also cost you. Get bigger tires and lower the air-pressure, you will love it.

I parked it in neutral but my handbrake wasn't working and it rolled into a tree. I couldn't open the bonnet and the intake filter came off. Rather than dust my engine, I removed the bent bullbar and can no longer bend it back to shape easy enough to be worth it. Going for a proper bullbar with DIY mounts anyway
